Clayton Files

Mike Clayton was with the 67th Engr early on at Ft Campbell in 67 and come over to VN with the original outfit on the Ship USNS Darby. In 1967 the 67th Engr ranged widely out of BaRia, Bearcat, Cu Chi, Tay Ninh and other base camps.

During these operations, just outside Camp Blackhorse (11th Cav), a mine destroyed a 67th Eng jeep and killed Lt Reginald A Mundy and his gunner Spc 4 Harvie G Smith. We honor their service to our country and their ultimate sacrifice.

Present Day

I have had requests to have pics of us as we are today. I have mixed feelings about the idea of disturbing this little time warp that we have created by adding the present to the past, but hey I have a long record of being wrong so here are some blasts from  the present.
Send me a pic and I will put it in with the other photos.

Camp Viking

Camp Viking was built by the 86th Engr Bn  and when they redeployed back to the States in 1969 the compound was occupied by B Co, 93rd Engr Bn and the 2nd platoon of the 67th Engr Co DT . The 2nd was in the middle of the compound with B  Co to the east end of the compound and ARVN arty to the west. The south side of Viking was boardered by a wide canal and the North side was the Binh Duc airstrip and then the Binh Duc forest, Indilan country. The compound itself was just west of My Tho and about 4 km further west along the Mekong river was Dong Tam and the 9th ID Headquarters.

This site is for the men of the 67th Engr Co DT who served in Vietnam 1967-1972. The 67th Engr Company DT was a Dump Truck Company, 5 ton dump trucks, with the 1st platoon supporting the quarry operations in Vung Tau and hauling rock to barges that took the rock down to the delta where the 2nd platoon hauled the rock out to various  sites in support of different Engineer Construction units such as the 93rd Engr Bn.
